19 crew members of a crude oil tanker Nave Constellation of Navios Company were kidnapped by the pirates off the coast of Nigeria. A spokesman of the company reported about it on December 4. According to the latest data, this incident took place late in the evening on Tuesday, December 3, in about 77 nautical miles off Bonny Island, where the ship was engaged in loading. At the moment the kidnapped crew members have been declared missing. According to the official statement of the ship owner, a criminal gang left the vessel, taking 19 hostages. It is already known that among the kidnapped crew members, there are 18 citizens of India and one citizen of Turkey. Currently there are 7 crew members on board of the vessel, who were ordered to head the vessel to some safe place and wait for help.
All the authorized official bodies and the flag state have been informed about the incident. They are taking all measures that are necessary to release the kidnapped seafarers as soon as possible.
